The driving force behind Vanille Madagascar is Leoncine. She was born in Madagascar and has been in the Netherlands since November 2019.
Madagascar
Madagascar, also known as Malagasia, officially the Republic of Madagascar, is an island located east of the African continent, separated from it by the Mozambique Channel. It is the fourth largest island in the world, after Greenland, New Guinea and Borneo.
The distance from north to south is about 1.580 km and from east to west about 579 km. The highest point is the Maromokotro with a height of 2.876 meters.
Since October 4, 2009, the island has been divided into 22 regions (Malagasy: faritra), which are further divided into 111 districts. The regions are further divided into districts and municipalities. Previously, the island was divided into six autonomous provinces (Malagasy: faritany mizakatena).
Madagascar is one of the poorest countries in the world. Eighty percent of the population lives from agriculture and about 72% lives below the poverty line.
Believing together in a better world
Together with her husband Ron, Leoncine helps the people of Madagascar.
She also helps children to go to school, supports the elderly and helps residents with food and clean water. For example, Leoncine and her team are working on the construction of a school that will also include a hospital post and a room for orphans.
Vanilla and other spices
The vanilla and other spices that Leoncine sells in its online store are grown organically by farmers in Madagascar, making them 100% natural and sustainable.
vanilla
Leoncine's vanilla - Gourmet Black Vanilla Premium Quality 16 to 20 cm with a moisture content of 30-35% and a vanilla content of 1,6-2,8% - is the best available on the market and is imported directly from its own plantation in Sambava Madagascar.
Vanilla is the second most expensive spice in the world after saffron. There are several reasons for this. The vanilla aroma in food can be obtained by boiling vanilla pods. By cutting the pod, a very fragrant pith is released from the inside of the pod. This is the so-called vanilla nut. Good quality vanilla has a strong taste and smell.
Other herbs and spices
In addition to vanilla, Leoncine also sells cinnamon sticks, saffron, cloves, combava, cardamom, turmeric, pink pepper, wild pepper and white pepper in its online store.
